My Dreams as a Peer Support Specialist

After working in the field of mental health, I have grown to like this field. I not only get to help people with their lives, but I also see it as a growing job field. I feel like I could add a lot of value to the mental health field because of my experience and knowledge. I am very interested in seeing people from all walks of life succeed. Anyways, let me tell you what some of my dreams are as a peer support specialist.

Help homeless people living with a mental illness

I have always wanted to help the homeless. Whether that be by providing a homeless shelter, or by giving them mental health tips and tricks. This is such a specific thing to help people with, why homeless people you might ask? Well actually I was once homeless. I was homeless and I know the pain of not having a job or not knowing when your next meal will be. It is difficult and plus it is a good thing to do. This world is full of homeless people, and we need to help each other out because it is the right thing to do.

Start my own Psychology practice or peer support service

The reason why I got the idea to start my own practice is because I saw that my boss, Cynthia Dudley, was such a caring and kind person, it made me want to be that. I saw that she was like that because of all of her life experiences. Part of those experiences was starting her own peer support service, Trillium, and I can be completely honest with you, everything about the job is perfect.

I feel like I don’t need a degree to start my own business, but I also feel like the degrees would provide valuable insight as to the minds of mental health patients. So, I will get my degrees regardless.

Make a drug that gets people off of other drugs

When I was in middle school, I was asked to write an essay about something that I would invent. I said that I would invent a drug that gets people off of other drugs. This way people could live their lives free. I know that this is a farther to reach goal, but I believe that I can do it.
